The Fruit of the Spirit

Galatians 5:22-23 talks about the fruit of the Spirit. Everything is governed by law except for the fruit of the Spirit! There is no limitation for how much you can have. Since they benefits us so much, and they can never do harm to us no matter how much of them we have, we should be pursuing them. Fuit comes forth because of the tree that it is hanging on, meaning the fruit that comes off tells what kind of tree you are. The purpose of the fruit of the spirit is to give you power to fulfill your destiny in Christ. As it benefits us, it also benefits Christ. God uses your fruit to draw people to Himself through us. How Do You Know Real Love?

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails… And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-13). The first time the word love is used in the Bible is where Abraham is asked to sacrifice his son. Real love comes with trouble and tests but it endures beyond anything it may come against. Real love also looks beyond faults, finds needs and covers a multitude of sins. There are many different kinds of love but it is important to determine what love is and how it is different from lust. 1 Corinthians chapter 13 is the love chapter, so if you want to know something about love, go to the love chapter in the Bible.

The Wake-Up Call

What does it matter if you gain the whole world but lose your soul? Today, I want to talk to you about God’s love and how it can save your soul. St. John 3:13 is what the whole bible is about! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” God is the way, the truth and the life. He is life and He gives us life! You can have the Word and know the Word but your heart has to be right. You need the Word and the Spirit. Jesus gave us the key to everlasting life. He said we must be born again of the water and of the spirit. It’s spiritual. God’s spirit is freely given. You don’t have to work for it. It’s free to us. He already paid the price.

Passcode to His Presence

The devil can get in your ear sometimes and make you complain about all of the things that you feel are going wrong in your life. The more you harp on it, the further you get from the church and the presence of God. Sometimes after you fast, you feel really strong, but often times that’s when you are at your weakest and when the devil will try to swoop in. What we need to do is stop worrying and thinking about the things the devil is constantly in our ears about and start praising Him! Nothing is more joyful then hearing your child sing, even if they are singing all the wrong notes. You are God’s child! He loves to hear you sing. The key to the presence of God is in your tongue! That’s why the devil does not want you to praise Him.

Things That Accompany Salvation

There are things that come along with being saved, some qualifications. Are you one of the called, chosen and faithful? First you have to be called and believe it or not, everyone has been called. Christ died for you. But just because you are called does not mean you are chosen. There is one main difference, you don’t have to come when you are called. You have to first accept the call to be chosen. After you have accepted the call and are chosen by Christ, you have to be faithful. That is where many of us go wrong. Life with Jesus is a life of testing because you will never grow without testing. Your faithfulness will be tested. There are thousands of other things that accompany salvation but I wanted to zero in on faithfulness today. The average person who calls themselves a Christian go to church only twice a month as opposed to eight times a month. And we wonder why so much bad is happening in the world, it’s because we have no power. We aren’t faithful. We have no strength because we don’t go to church. What are we supposed to be faithful in? We are supposed to love. Love is a decision you make, not a feeling you have . When you are faithful, there will be evidence of your faithfulness.

Jehovah Nissi

Is Christ your Jehovah Nissi? God has a plan for you but He also has some stipulations you have to follow. You have to align yourself with His will. You’re also going to have to fight some battles to receive your blessings. In the book of Exodus, Chapter 17, God told Moses to take the rod of God up to the top of the hill with him and lift it in worship. Whenever Moses got weary he would drop his hands and the Israelites would start losing the battle. As long as his hands were up, things were working out for them in the heavenly. How many of you know that obedience is the highest form of worship? Moses then builds an altar and calls it Jehovah Nissi which means, the Lord is my banner. Do you know what a banner is? It’s pretty much a flag that is waived at the end of a battle. So he is saying, God is our flag! He is high and lifted up! Now, there are some things that we think we know how to do but we don’t. Breathing, walking, sitting are all some examples. Many people seek etiquette classes to fix these. An example in the church is worship. The best place to go to learn about worship is the Bible. Lifting our hands is a form of worship. When we are in a worship service, there is spiritual warfare happening and our worship, the lifting of our hands, is a sign of surrender to Christ.

The Cross

Have you received your site at the cross? Some may stop here and think, I was never blind. When you are in sin, you are spiritually blind, so God has to open your eyes at the cross. There are three things Jesus told His disciples to do. First, He told them to deny themselves. Second, take up their cross. Third, follow Him. In this world, we relate to things through time (when), space (where), matter (what) or energy (how). There are two things missing; why and how. Why we are and who we are are missing because God defines that. It’s at the cross that we realize the who and the why of life. The cross is a weapon of mass destruction. It is a way to kill you and make you suffer for a long time. The powerful thing about this is that Jesus knew what He was going to have to go through. Beaten, bruised, tortured and killed. He asked us to take up our cross, not His because His was way too much for us to bare. The dimensions of the cross have meaning. The lateral dimension of the cross is us reaching out to each other, meaning we can’t do it by ourselves. We need each other. Then there is the part that sticks up towards the sky because we need God. Finally, there is the part that sticks down in the ground, that signifies the relationship we have with ourselves which is often the one left untapped. The cross Jesus wants us to carry is not a physical cross. He wants us to love everyone, even those who hate us. Carrying the cross is not easy but it is one of the only things Christ asks of us.

What’s Wrong With the Church?

Jesus asked the twelve men who were the closest to Him, “who do you think I am?”. These are the people who are with Him all of the time. One of His friends were bold enough to speak up and say “You are the Christ, the son of the living God”. Jesus responded to Peter in Matthew 16:18 by saying upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against thee. There is a lot of controversy around this scripture. First, we have to define what we mean by the church because the universal church can’t fit in a building. It is everyone that’s been born into the kingdom of God. Now God calls us to be a part of a congregation, which is the local church. He knows what we need and what that congregation needs from us. I believe that God meant upon the revelation that Peter had is where He will build His church. The revelation was that Jesus is He who has come to redeem mankind from its sins. In that aspect, the only thing that can be wrong with the church is us! We have to show love to our brothers and sisters and when we fail to do that, we can no longer be members of His church, we are no longer the church…

Why Go To Church?

Watch Full Video Now on YouTube

Different people go to church for different reasons. Unfortunately, the reason we go is not always the reason we should go. The reason we should go to church because Jesus did. He is our example and it was his custom to go to church. Instead, we go because it “feels good”. People go places they want to be. They go there early and stay late. It’s the opposite when they don’t want to be there. They come up with every excuse possible to get there late and leave early. In Scripture, we find a few reasons why we should go to church. First, the church is called out from the world. We do not belong to ourselves! We are God’s property so we don’t have the right to say whether we want to go to church or not. Second, the church is also the body of Christ. When you miss church and you are part of the body, you are missed. You are important to the body of Christ. It knows when you are missing. Third, your strength and help comes from the house of the Lord which is why the devil tries to keep you from coming. God gives you exactly what you need at church but if you miss church, you miss your blessing. Finally, He works on us in the church. He shows us ourselves, humbles us and sharpens us. The thing about church is that you are going to get what you are looking for out of it. So if you come with a bad attitude, you won’t get much. When you come with an spirit of thanksgiving and expectancy, you will get just that.

The Thrill is Gone

Where is your passion? What get’s you excited? What makes you FEEL GOOD?2nd Samuel 13 tells the story of Amnon and Tamar. Amon fell for his brother, Absalom’s, sister, Tamar. Amnon made himself sick and asked for Tamar to serve him by making cakes for him to eat. He then asked her to lay with him. She denied him so he forced her to have sex with him. After they laid together, he hated her more than he ever loved her and sent her away. Sin will take your further than you want to go, make you stay longer than you want to stay and make you do things you will always regret. We chase what makes us FEEL good but some of the things that make you feel good can and will kill you. Do you know what the difference is between a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship and a husband/wife relationship? God is not looking for a girlfriend. He doesn’t want us to be infatuated with Him. He wants us to be in love with Him. He wants us to love Him even when we don’t FEEL like it. There are three things that can take us down in life; the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life. If you can get victory over those, you can have it all! But, you can only do that with the help of the Holy Ghost!
